At Terre di Sacra, we believe that the value of a place lies not only in its beauty, but in the ability to preserve it over time. It is from this shared vision that our collaboration with Tuscany Environment Foundation (TEF) has developed and continues to grow—a non-profit organization committed to protecting and enhancing Tuscany’s natural heritage, actively contributing to sustainability in the Maremma.
A longstanding partner of TEF, Terre di Sacra supports this commitment with a deep conviction: experiencing a place also means taking responsibility for its preservation. Here, in the heart of the Maremma, among dunes, Mediterranean scrub and open horizons this principle translates into everyday choices.
The landscape our guests encounter is the result of a delicate balance, shaped over time through sustainable agriculture, biodiversity conservation and respect for natural cycles. It is a living ecosystem that requires ongoing care and tangible attention.
Within this context, a new step in the collaboration with Tuscany Environment Foundation takes shape.
The funds collected will support TEF’s projects, which operate across the region to protect ecosystems, safeguard biodiversity and promote sustainable land management practices.
This is not merely a symbolic gesture, but a tangible way to create a deeper connection between those who experience this place, even briefly, and its future.
In recent years, the concept of hospitality has evolved significantly. More and more travelers seek authentic experiences, ones that create value not only for themselves, but also for the places they visit. In this sense, hospitality becomes a bridge between experience and responsibility.
Terre di Sacra embraces this path with an approach that places its relationship with nature at the center: not as a backdrop, but as a living presence to be respected and protected.
The collaboration with TEF represents a natural evolution of this approach, making a long-standing commitment more visible, shared and participatory.
Each stay thus becomes part of a broader vision: a more conscious form of tourism, capable of contributing to the preservation of the very places that make it possible.
Because caring for the places we love is not an extraordinary act, but a daily practice, and perhaps the most authentic way to truly experience them.
This new initiative by Terre di Sacra contributes to supporting the projects selected by Tuscany Environment Foundation, which operates through a process of evaluating proposals from across the territory.
These include the protection of high-value natural areas such as the Padule di Fucecchio and Lake Sibolla, the regeneration of fragile ecosystems such as the wetlands of the Sant’Antonio Forest, and the study and protection of Posidonia Oceanica in the Bay of Talamone.
Alongside environmental interventions, TEF supports education and awareness initiatives, including scholarships for students in regenerative agriculture, training courses in traditional dry-stone construction techniques, and the creation of educational gardens within schools.
Particular attention is given to biodiversity through the monitoring of pollinators and the care of sea turtles along the Tuscan coast, as well as to more sustainable local economic models, such as the Bluefishers project, which promotes the use of reusable fishing crates.
Over time, these activities have been complemented by other significant initiatives, including wildlife studies, seabed clean-up operations and environmental awareness campaigns.
